Tuition Free Opportunities

Macomb has some amazing opportunities for students and lifelong learners to get a college education without having to worry about paying tuition.

All you need to do is complete the FAFSA to see if you qualify! Fill out a  (FAFSA) and be sure to include Macomb’s Federal School Code: 008906 where prompted. Be sure to list Macomb as your first choice on the FAFSA so that both state and Macomb receives your information. 

1. Community College Guarantee – The scholarship covers tuition at the in-district rate and mandatory fees for eligible high school students who want to earn a skill certificate or degree, regardless of their family's income! Additionally, Pell Grant-eligible students can receive an extra $1,000 award to help cover college expenses beyond tuition. This benefit covers any tuition and fees that exceed other financial aid, allowing students to earn an associate degree or certificate tuition-free.
2. Macomb Tuition Advantage – Covers tuition and fees exceeding other financial aid, allowing students to earn a tuition-free associate degree. Students must apply for all eligible financial aid and meet specific criteria. The award is renewable for up to three years for Michigan adults without prior college degrees.
3. Michigan Reconnect – The scholarship covers tuition at the in-district rate and mandatory fees for eligible adults, who must be at least 25 years old, have lived in Michigan for at least a year, hold a high school diploma or GED, and have not yet completed an associate or bachelor's degree.
